Multiplication of Two Numbers Greater in Between 90 and 110
Condition:
Multiplication of two numbers, one less than 100, the other one greater than 100. Preferably both of the numbers are close to 100.Example 1
98 x 105 = ?
Steps:
- Find the difference of the two numbers with 100. For example, 98 is 2 less than 100, hence the difference is -2. 105 is 5 greater than 100, hence the difference is +5.
- Add the numbers we obtained in step 1 to the multiplicand and multiplier in such a way that, the difference of the multiplier added to the multiplicand or vice versa. Multiply the answer obtained by 100. In this case, the answer obtained is 103. 103 multiply by 100 we get 10300.
- Find the product of the two numbers that we obtained in step 1. In this case, they are -2 and +5. In this case, (-2) x (+5) = -10. Add this to the number we obtained in step 2.
- After a simple calculation, 98 x 105 = 10290
103 x 94 = ?
Difference of the numbers with 100:103 → +3
94 → -6
(103 - 6) x 100 = 9700
Product of the two "difference numbers"
(+3) x (-6) = -18
103 x 94 = 9700 - 18 = 9682
Example 3:
96 x 110 = ?
Difference of the numbers with 100:
96 → -4
110 → +10
(96 + 10) x 100 = 10600
Product of the two "difference numbers"
(-4) x (+10) = -40
96 x 110 = 10600 - 40 = 10560
